This Fiery Friday, I'm posting a bit late, but it's WORTH THE WAIT!
I'm bringing you a taste of Collaring Ash: Sweet Seduction Book 2 by Nicola C. Matthews and Angel H. Scott. It's a paranormal erotica vampire story with a hot love triangle. First, I did a little interview with the authors to learn more about them and these ladies' latest release!
Tell us about yourself. Why did you decide to write in the romance/erotica genre?
NICOLA: I started my journey into the paranormal realm over a decade ago when I was began blogging the storylines of several of the RPGs (Role Playing Games) that I was involved in at the time. Several author friends who followed my blog told me they thought the storylines would read better if I added in some erotica, so I did. Next thing I knew, my blog was blowing up to the point where I maxed out my friends’ list and was crashing the host servers. Turns out I was really good at writing erotica, and once I started, I couldn’t really stop. I’ve always enjoyed reading romance and erotica so it was only natural my works followed the same genre that I love so much.
ANGEL : I chose to write romantic erotica because I like to do something different than plain, boring romance. I noticed when I was writing The Return, it felt boring without any swear words or naughty stuff inside. It was so hard not to put any swearing in when I had my characters talk. I am a new author and I was told I write better with the erotica in the storyline than I do without it. I met up with another author who only writes erotica romance and I read her books. I loved how she wrote and so we decided to write a few books together.
What "heat level" should readers expect from your latest release?
On a scale of 1 to 10? 20! This book crosses over a large scale of erotica, including theesomes and some light BDSM.
What do you like most about the heroine and/or hero in your new book?
NICOLA: This entire series is based on spoof characters from one of my favorite bands. What I loved the most about writing this book was trying to capture a tiny bit of the smart-assery of the real Ash’s personality into the fictional character. I would have to my favorite thing about the fictional Ash is his smart-ass attitude, his wit, and his charm.
What is your favorite romantic movie and why?
NICOLA: It’s not romantic in the purest sense of the word, but one of my all-time favorite movies which I will watch again and again is Queen of the Damned based on Anne Rice’s of the same name. The movie deviates from the book quite a bit, so in the end Lestat finds himself falling in love with someone other than himself and his own tragedy. It just shows no matter how wrapped up someone can be in their own life, no matter how long it takes, there really is someone out there for everyone, and even the most tragic person can find love in some form.
ANGEL: My favorite romantic movie is A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff because it shows you can get any boy you want, if you just believe in yourself and stick up for yourself. Never change for anyone and keep your head held high. It showed even if some people make fun of you, you just keep going and someday your prince charming won’t care about what other people say because he will like you just the way you are.
What do you do in your free time when you're not writing?
NICOLA: I do not have much free time between my regular job and all the side businesses that I run. When I do get a rare moment to myself, I love watching movies or listening to music.
ANGEL: I love playing The Sims 4 in my spare time, or watching movies!
What's the best way for readers to connect with you?
NICOLA: any of my social media accounts or my website
ANGEL: Facebook - www.facebook.com/angelharveyscot
What are you working on right now?
NICOLA: I’m gearing up to hit the road to promote the last four releases, but as far as books go I’m working on Clan of the Claw (book 3 in the Before the Sun Rises Series) and An Ax to Grind as well as Jinx’d which are books 3 and 4 in the Sweet Seductions Series.
ANGEL: Another book project with 18 other writers and my naughty version of The Return.
What is your MOST and/or LEAST favorite thing about being a romance/erotica writer?
NICOLA: I feel that being an erotica author has closed a lot of doors to me as well as readers. I can do so much more than just erotica, and my novels cover a wide range of subject matter/genres. I feel some readers may not give my other books a chance if they think all I can write is erotica. My favorite thing about being an erotica writer is the same as being a writer of any genre: no rules! My only limitation is my imagination and I can certainly come up with some weird ideas!
ANGEL: Some of my erotica romantic books touch on sensitive subjects and some people might think I do the stuff I talk about inside the books, even though I don’t. Some people might think that is all I write too, and that is also not true. That is the least favorite thing about being an erotica writer and not everyone likes erotica books so some people won’t even buy the book because of the naughty stuff. My most favorite is how I feel when I write the erotica subjects!

The bouncer eyed the bills and the card. “What did you say your name was, sir?”
“Ash. Ash Pardue.”
The man’s eyes disappeared from the tiny opening for a brief moment before it closed completely. Ash could hear the sound of several deadbolts being pulled back before the door opened nearly silently on its well-oiled hinges. The large man behind the door took Ash’s AmEx card before gesturing to Ash. “If you please, sir, right this way.”
Ash tucked his wallet back into his pants pocket, following the man inside. A young woman dressed in a bra, g-string, and garter belt rushed toward them, offering up a plate of drinks. “Jack Daniels over ice, sir?” the man asked, taking the drink off the platter and offering it to Ash.
Fuck, does this place get me or what? Ash thought to himself as he took the drink. “Don’t mind if I do, thanks.”
The man nodded his head slightly as he continued to lead Ash deeper into the building, the two of them walking down a broad hallway. There were doors and rich, red velvet curtains on either side of them as they walked, the sound of women’s laughter and lightly clinking glasses periodically rising above the somber elevator music.
“Where are we going, man?” Ash asked after several seconds of silence from the bouncer.
The man glanced back at Ash. “Your Mistress is just this way, sir,” he said in the same bored monotone.
Ash stopped. “Mistress? What the fuck are you talking about?”
The bouncer turned around, moving to take Ash by the elbow and propel him further down the hallway. “Your Mistress, sir. Unless you would prefer a Master for the evening instead?”
Ash felt his undead heart flip over inside of his chest. “Dude, I think there has been some sort of mistake. I thought this was a strip club.” He jerked his arm free, turning with every intention of getting the hell out of there.
Just as he crouched down to propel himself back toward the door, a large, hairy hand with extended claws reached out and took hold of his upper arm again, the grip nearly crushing the bone beneath the hardened flesh. Ash turned in surprise, looking from the giant paw-like hand to the man who owned it, his rounded face having become more angular as he began to phase right in front of Ash.
Goddammit. Fucking werewolf, he thought to himself.
“Sir, you are being charged by the hour and your tab started as soon as you crossed the threshold, with a three-hour minimum. You are welcome to leave, but you must settle your bill first,” the bouncer said, holding firm to his arm.
“I don’t fucking think so, man,” Ash said, trying to jerk his arm out of the werewolf’s grip. “I didn’t agree to any of this shit. Some uptight cunt at the local library gave me that card. I thought this was just a strip club. Obviously that bitch needs a serious lesson in manners, as well as what constitutes a joke.”
The bouncer kept hold of his arm, nodding his head toward someone behind Ash. A second later, his entire world went black as someone tossed a sack over his head. He struggled, but a quick prick in his arm soon had him nearly incapacitated.
Was that fucking heroin they had just dosed him with?
