Tied down in the dark & nearly naked for #ScintillatingSunday

Every Sunday, romance authors post excerpts from their work that are sensual or emotionally charged. To read more excerpts, click the links at the bottom of this post.

My excerpt comes from my upcoming release Invisible Ink. First, here's the blurb:

Lex has never felt more exposed. She has just allowed Jake Reed, the lead singer of rock band Inkjet, to undress her and tie her to a chair backstage after a show, only to have him leave to go sign autographs.

It is the start of a dark, obsessive relationship that will lead Lex, a 20-something public relations professional from L.A., to lose herself almost entirely as she struggles to break through her sexual boundaries without falling in love with Jake, an intimidatingly gorgeous Hollywood actor/rock star who closely guards his emotions.

What starts as a series of casual hookups ends up a powerful addiction that will push Lex past all her sexual boundaries as Jake moves repeatedly in and out of her life, making few promises along the way. Lex fights to keep a sense of herself while she succumbs to Jake’s glamorous world and his irresistible allure.

In this excerpt, we join Lex after she's been tied up and left in the dark backstage...

"Motherfucking…" I mumbled. What if they’ve locked the building and he forgot about me? I came up with all kinds of horribly embarrassing scenarios. For the first time in several hours, I took stock of how this ridiculous situation and how I must look. How would I explain this? "Oh, let’s see, officer, Jake Reed pulled me out of the crowd and tied me up…yeah…It was him, I swear.  The guy in the magazines. I let him tie me up, no big deal."

I thought about the graze of his lips on my neck. The ache between my thighs returned.

I heard footsteps again, this time closer to the door.

The latch clicked and on instinct, without thinking, I said “hello?” like an idiot in a horror movie about to be killed. “Hello?”

Someone entered the room and I heard their padded footsteps growing louder. When no one answered, I knew it had to be him.

He came closer, as silently as possible, until I could feel his hot breath in my ear.

"Boo," he whispered with a barely audible laugh. "Bet you thought I forgot I left you here," he said before I had a chance to decide how to react. He knelt beside me, his lips right in my ear. He placed one hand on the back of my neck and gripped. His other hand rested on my knee and he ran his fingers along the inside of my thigh again.

I couldn’t see a thing, but the rest of my senses buzzed at his touch. I held my breath as he put his teeth on my earlobe and bit down.
